Today's recommendations only includes four new releases, but one of those new releases is damn near three hours long. Which one? There's a big clue above. Read on for a very eclectic group of recommendations. 

Starting things off on the gentler side of thing is Location Lost, the new album by Failure. The new album isn't a huge departure from what Failure were doing in the 90s - alternative rock with a spacey edge and and some tendencies towards pop hooks. The addition of Hayley Williams on one track adds a nice new dimension that expands their sound without feeling out of place. 

Switching gears, up next we have "Peace Trader," an angry new single from Switzerland's Coilguns. The band has a lengthy explanation of the track and its meaning on its Bandcamp page, which spells out that it's about their country betraying its stated ideals of being a peaceful, welcoming country and turning its back on asylum seekers. Its heavy stuff, sonically and emotionally. 

Being a Swans fan has levels. There's being a regular fan, being a fan of the live albums, and being a fan of the live albums during the "Big Sound" era. Live Rope was recorded during the tour for The Beggar, and captures how the tracks from this era change and mutate in the live setting. The first track, "Rope/The Beggar" is by itself almost and hour and 20 minutes long and is alternately weird, hypnotic, and terrifying. In your face, Sleep!

Now for something a little more urgent. Heiden is a ​post-black metal band from the Czech Republic. This one has riffs, Neurosis-esque song structures, and some really catchy grooves. I have no idea what I'm rocking out to on their new album Cma, but it's working for me!
