There may not be a lot of big name releases that are jumping out at me, but a pretty big week for new music nevertheless! I don't know if any of the records on this list are going to make it into my regular rotation, but they're all interesting enough to recommend you check out. 

Up first is the new single from Chat Pile and Hayden Pedigo. I've listened to it several times since it dropped earlier this week and I don't have a particularly strong response to it one way or another, but I was somewhat ambivalent on the first singles from Chat Pile's last album, and that went on to become my #1 album of last year. So, benefit of the doubt here.

Next up is the hard-to-Google noise rock band Prayer Group. There is a coffee shop/skate shop/punk venue near my house that specializes in this kind of fast, noisy hardcore, and if these guys come to town I'll absolutely be grabbing a ticket. Check them out on Bandcamp. 

And now for something completely different. Wucan are a prog/Krautrock band with a sound straight out of the late 70s/early 80s. It's fun, unpredictable stuff that sounds like Elder's lighter stuff with female vocals. It's bizarre in a very interesting way.

We Fail to Love Ourselves by Adur was listed on the new release list I saw as a post-metal album, but to me it reads more like post-hardcore. There's a lot of short, punchy energy here. A couple tracks fell a little flat for me on my first listen, but I'll be coming back run through it a few more times for sure. As I write this, I'm also checking out the new album by lowheaven, Ritual Decay. This one definitely has a bit more obvious Neurosis influence, but I'm still undecided if the clean vocals are working for me.
